Michael Binger is a professional poker player from Delray Beach, Florida. He was born in 1976, began playing poker in 2001, and received his PhD in theoretical physics from Stanford University in 2006. Shortly after that he finished third in the World Series Of Poker’s main event, winning over $4 million.
Earlier that same year he placed sixth in another World Series event His brother Nick is also a part-time professional player who has placed in several major tournaments. On the more personal side, Michael is a thoughtful and intelligent man and an ardent environmentalist whose favorite place to be is Cinque Terre, Italy.
Since 2006 Michael has racked up a pretty impressive record of wins in WSOP events, tying with two other players in 2006 for the most cash placements in a single poker season, with eight money wins. His game of choice is No Limit Texas Hold ‘em, and he won the World Series of Poker Hold ‘em championship in Lake Tahoe in 2008. His career wins so far include 6 first place wins and have totaled more than $6.5 million, and he continues to be active on the circuit. Not bad for a part-time job.
